WELCOME

This site will introduce you to the concepts and principles of one point linear perspective. You will also learn about the history of visual perspective, and rules and procedures for creating perspective drawings.

Objectives
Within the 50 minute time period, you will be able to:  

  1. Explain the fundamental principles of one point perspective, the history of the development of linear perspective, and its application to science and engineering, as well as art.
  2. Use pencil, paper and a ruler to complete a simple line drawing of a room in one point perspective. The drawing will include a vanishing point, a horizon line, and orthogonal lines that indicat the position of simple objects.

This lesson has three sections: History, Rules, and Procedures. Each section contains links to additional information about perspective, and an assignment for you to complete individually, or with a group. You can refer back to any section at any time.

Examples shows you finished student drawings submitted for this assignment.
